Live Racing at Fair Grounds is Canceled for Sunday, March 17

New Orleans, La (March 16, 2024) – Due to inclement weather forecasted for the New Orleans area, live racing on Sunday, March 17 has been canceled at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. 

Races from the canceled card will be added to the slate for Closing Day on Sunday, March 24, which will be drawn tomorrow, as scheduled.

Live racing will resume on Wednesday, March 20 with 8 races beginning at the regular post time of 12:45 p.m. CT. Louisiana Derby Day is Saturday, March 23 and first post is noon for the 12-race program. Headlined by the $1 million Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby (G2) and $400,000 Fair Grounds Oaks presented by Fasig-Tipton (G2), stakes purses total $2.7 million on the day.
