Usually Wrong Stays Hot Scoring Colonel Power Stakes
NEW ORLEANS (Feb. 14, 2026) — BG Stables and Selman Shaby’s homebred Usually Wrong made it back-to-back stakes wins Saturday, as the Duncan Kenner winner added the $100,000 Colonel Power Stakes to his resume at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.
Trained by Robertino Diodoro, with Isaac Castillo aboard, Usually Wrong broke sharp, dueled with Bear River and outlasted his five rivals, covering 5 1/2 furlongs over the turf in 1:02.28.
Mondogetsbuckets was game to the wire, getting up for second, just a head shy of the winner. Bear River hung on for third.
“He was really good today,” Castillo said. “He’s a very classy horse and every time he runs he brings his best effort.”
Sent off at 1-2, Usually Wrong paid $3, $2.20 and $2.10.
The track-record holder at the distance now owns a career mark of 12-9-1-0 and has earned $460,055.
