Louisiana Derby Day

It's the premier day of racing in Louisiana. The $600,000 Louisiana Derby, the richest race thus far for 3-year-olds on the Derby trail, is one of four Grade II stakes on the card, along with the $400,000 Fair Grounds Oaks for 3-year-old fillies, the $500,000 New Orleans Handicap for older horses and the $500,000 Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Memorial Handicap for older horses on the turf.
