THE TOPCATS AND AFTER PARTY TRIO HEADLINE HOLIDAY STARLIGHT RACING EXPERIENCE

Four – $1,000 College Scholarships to be awarded in conjunction with the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Nightlife during the 147th Thoroughbred racing season continues with a 5 p.m. first post this Friday, December 28th, at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Presented by Miller Lite, Blue Moon, Absolut, Jameson, Event Producers and B97, the popular “see and be seen” series at Fair Grounds features live racing, entertainment and popular local food truck fare.

Well-loved local band, THE TOPCATS, is slated to perform in the clubhouse starting at 7 p.m. and local live entertainers, After Party Trio, take the Starlight stage in the Miller Lite Beer Garden on the track apron beginning at 6 p.m. Local food trucks, Frencheeze and Diva Dawg, will be on-site for the near the Starlight tent on the track apron.

“We are excited to host our second night racing event over the holidays and welcome New Orleanians to enjoy an incredible level of local musical talent in clubhouse mainstay, THE TOPCATS, as well as After Party Trio live in the Miller Lite Beer Garden Tent.  Our classic craft beer brewery-style facade is truly a unique experience when coupled with food truck fare and live thoroughbred racing just steps away,” said Track president, Doug Shipley.

This year’s Starlight Racing events are featuring an improved experience in the Miller Lite Beer Garden with a Cheers replica bar replete with eight special brews on tap as well as wines. A mixture of woods and metals will bring a true beer garden to life with a comfortable, yet modern feel for a night of racing. Guests will enjoy creative and expanded seating options while enjoying live musical acts from the new Starlight stage in the tent at each event.

In addition to the festivities, Fair Grounds is partnering with the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association to award four $1,000 college scholarships during Starlight Racing.  To be eligible, current college students must provide a valid student ID & government issued ID and fill out an application on the West Entrance of Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots by the 3rd race. Winners must be present to win.
