Woodbourne Wins Friday Fair Grounds Feature

NEW ORLEANS, La (November 21, 2008) - Melnyk Racing Stables Inc.'s Woodbourne came from just off the early pace to take command in mid-stretch and draw off for a 1 3/4-length tally in Friday's Fair Grounds $44,000 feature at about 1 1/16-miles over the firm Stall-Wilson turf course.

Ridden by jockey Jesse Campbell and trained by Mark Casse, Woodbourne toured the distance in 1:45.95 after early splits of :24.17 and :49.33, and paid mutuels of $11.60, $6.20 and $4.40.

Flying Zombo finished second, 2 1 /4-lengths to the good of He's Solid Gold.  Flying Zombo paid $5.20 and $3.60 while He's Solid Gold returned $9.80

Woodbourne increased his career earnings to $84,376 with his second victory in seven career trips to the post.

Racing resumes Saturday at Fair Grounds with a pair of co-featured $60,000 5 1/2-furlong sprints for juveniles - the Old Hickory for 2-year-olds and the Pontalba for 2-year-old fillies.  First post time is 12:30 p.m.
