Brian's Plays

  • Race 1 2-1-4

SPEARGUN moves back to the dirt against claimers first time with blinkers on, sharp work and a new rider aboard. NOTABLE PLAYER was second in the slop thirteen days ago and leads into the race in good form first off the claim as he stretches out, which could be a good distance. POINT TAKEN failed to threaten on the grass and tries the dirt at second asking with same rider aboard for hot stable.

  • Race 2 8-4-9

NITECAP has several close finishes on both surfaces in recent starts who runs short first time on the grass, which could be right the spot for him to win. SOUTHERN LEGEND seems to run better at longer distances, but has been running well and he's fan of this turf course in good form for a solid turf outfit. READY FOR MORE returns off the bench, but workout tab looks good to be ready with leading rider aboard.

  • Race 3 3-6-1

TELESCOPIC competes third start off the break in a flat race for a high percentage trainer/ jockey combination who could get the right trip with plenty of pace in the race. BE A PRO has speed who won last time out in early Jan., but have not seen him since as he will try to get away on the frontend again from the rail. JAKE'S BET won easy last time out at Delta at shorter distance on the lead who may have to stalk the pace at 6f second time out in the last few months.

  • Race 4 1-6-5

KASOS PRIDE won his last condition for the same tag by several lengths and was in over this head with a new rider last time out. He's in a more realistic spot to win his third lifetime win with Eramia back aboard. PLEASANT CHOICE finished second to Ordinary Time who won back to back starts and gets a break in weight with a sharp bug rider. BILL CITY makes his second start in a year and half who ran a decent performance even though he was wide at the quarter pole. Rider stays with this one who rides well in these types of races.

  • Race 5 5-3-9

PEDROLINO has been running well for the current stable and may have needed a brief break after he ran a distant third over an off track last time out. He returns fresh and has a versatile running style to be dangerous. PIOUS PREACHER won with a soft lead two starts back and was a late running third last time against open company to be a player over the turf course if the race remains on the grass. WAJIR ON ME ran third at a longer distance which it seems to be what he wants is to run all day long, but he may get up for a piece to play underneath as he's been tough on the grass in competitive fields.

  • Race 6 1-4-10

LEESTOWN GIFT has two wins this meet running for a nickel as this may be a tougher spot for him so watch the board. He runs first off the claim for a barn who wins at 40% in this spot and can be sitting on or near the lead at the distance. POWER SURGE has been sharp closing late in dirt sprints and should like the added distance from the last two starts. SILENT PIPE makes his second start with the new stable and gets the fast track after setting slow fractions only to get caught in the end. He has been facing tougher in most starts and this appears to be a soft spot for the gelding who may stalk the pace from the outside.

  • Race 7 1-2-6

HARVEST HOME was a close third in a similar spot on New Years Day. He returns off a brief break and has been especially tough over a wet grass course. BOLD RECRUIT has speed who lasted for third behind his stablemate in a sprint stakes on Premier night at Delta. He won over this course in the past and could get the right trip with the rail way out. HEIR JOE won at the distance over this grass course last time who has been consistent for several starts to be tough even though this seems to be step up in class for the 5yo.

  • Race 8 1-4-8

HIDATSA has finished runner-up in this spot the last two starts to be a player again this spot with same rider retaining the mount for the Amoss stable. TIZ RISING may have needed the race last time out when she was dropped in first time tag and was claimed. Barn wins at 25% first start out and has three wins at the distance with some class to be a contender. SCILLY was finished an even third last time out and now runs first start off the claim with a fast track and eight wins at the distance.

  • Race 9 9-3-4

INSINCERELY YOURS woke up on the grass last time out and retains sharp turf rider to be tough at a slightly longer distance, which she should like today. BELLAMY'S FIRE ran a good effort in the end going short even though she finished unplaced. She runs a flat mile on the grass today and has good works since her first start. WHATSGIRLTODO is a daughter of Quiet American who hopefully gets a chance to run on the grass at second asking. She needs a better break to be a contender, but could be worth a look at 8-1 odds.
