MS TOUGH STUFF chased the fast pace and finished unplaced at the end of a starter allowance. Takes on easier and has the ability to stalk the pace to be dangerous from the Wes Hawley barn with Mena aboard (23%). WHODATKNOWI'MTOUGH may prefer a shorter distance as she barely held onto win last time out, but she's fit and has speed to be considered a player. THE BARN MANAGER has been consistent the last three starts and could come running with Napravnik aboard.
POLITE AND COZY has won this spot before last year and dealt with traffic to miss her chance down the stretch last time. Mare looks tough second start off the break for a winning trainer/ jockey combination. LIVEALITTLEBIT has been consistent at the distance and exits a win to try to repeat again 3 1/2 weeks later. LEE'S ZEAL won easy going short on Feb 12th and figures to be part of the early pace scenerio with the bug boy, but will have to overcome the outside post.
LOVE REIGNS is bred well running for the leading stable on the grounds and runs first time tag while running fresh. SMOKE IT OVER turns back in distance second time on the grass and show sharp works from the Neil Howard barn with blinkers on today. MAYPARK could be a live longshot to do well today with Mena aboard for Morris Nicks barn who ran third best in his most recent start and could move forward on the grass.
ZIPPIDY DO HAH is a son of CIty Zip on debut for the Neil Howard barn who has done well with first time starters this meet and solid work tab to suggest he's ready at 6-1. HERBAL PROSPECTOR runs first start with Amoss stable and makes a positive rider switch to leading rider. She should be sitting on or near the lead. SPOILED ROTTEN has speed, but always quits. Picks up a new rider if he can change tactics to possibly finish better today
DISTORSIONADA ran second in this spot on NYE so returns off a brief freshening and four good works to be sharp on the grass for tough turf outfit. JACONAGE won last time out in a similar scenario and should be a competitor turning for home. ITS ABOUT MIDNIGHT seems to prefer softer footing and may like the turf first time today. Barn wins 17% second off break, which she may have needed that race and sharp breeze since to live at 15-1.
ANSWER THE OFFICER rallied late to finish second for same tag and runs first off the claim with top jockey picking up the mount. Hopes to get a good pace to run into today. SUNDAY DREAMS returns fresh with fast works with apprentice rider aboard and may sit closer today for the right trip returning to the dirt. BROOKE'S JOURNEY should be tracking the pace at the distance and barn has been hot in the past few months.
CHEROKEE QUEEN won her last starts, which were stakes over the same course as today's race. She has a turf specialist and new stable has done great with her to be a strong contender turning for home. DAISY DEVINE hoping to be sharp today off the break. She won the FG Oaks last year over the main track, but also won her last two starts on the grass. Works looks consistent, but hopes top choice won't catch her in the final strides as they face each other first time. ROSE MEDALLION is 15-1 as she gets a big class test today. She does love the Fg's infield and has been in peak form to possible get a piece of it.
KINNIKONICK likes the distance with speed returns fresh for the Amoss barn, but she's a 3yo who will have to step it up against older horses first time. SMARTY GRAS has speed who may not get caught this time for his third start over the track, but may not be a fan of the company on the front early. STANDUP COMIC won last time out and should be a player if the pace is contested for his second start off the break.
THUNDER AFFAIR stretches out on the grass where he seems to run his better races as he runs second start off the break and drops half in tag. MANCHAC caught some tough fields to get outrun in straight maiden races. He runs for a claiming price and could be better as a 4yo from the Asmussen barn. WINEANSTORM may like the two turn distance at second asking and he runs with blinkers on with same rider who has been hot riding lately.
