Starlight Racing Returns February 19 With Bucktown Allstars
Following a successful January debut that packed the Miller Beer Garden chalet with young professionals seeking drink specials and charbroiled oysters, Starlight Racing returns to Fair Grounds for its second installment Friday, February 19, at 5 p.m.

Starlight Racing brings a new upscale nightlife option to the city with specialty drinks in the trackside Miller Beer Garden, live music by the Bucktown Allstars, world famous charbroiled oysters from Drago’s, additional specialty fare from Messina’s and, of course, nine live Thoroughbred races to watch and wager on.
“The success of our first Starlight Racing experience showed once again that if you throw a good party in this city people will always respond,” said Fair Grounds President Austin Miller. “Horsemen, race fans, nightclubbers and the college set all turned out in force, and all of their comments and reactions we heard were positive. We’re going to add a couple of new twists this time so that there will be even more surprises in store!”
Starlight racing will again offer two distinct experiences—a high-energy club atmosphere in the Miller Beer Garden chalet and patio with track views along the rail and a more sophisticated vibe in the Clubhouse with the Starlight Ultra Lounge and live music from the Bucktown Allstars.
The Miller Beer Garden chalet and patio, outfitted with space heaters in the event of cold weather, will incorporate the charbroiled oysters from Drago’s, plus specialty fare from Messina’s, lounge seating, premium martinis and cosmopolitans, themed lighting, high-definition plasma monitors and the popular Starlight Dancers in their custom jockey attire.
The fourth-floor Clubhouse level will offer the first-come, first-served lounge seating with themed decor by Mardi Gras Productions, premium martinis and cosmopolitans, and an enhanced Starlight Racing clubhouse menu by Chef Ray Derderian. The Bucktwon Allstars, one of the city’s most popular party bands, will take the Clubhouse bandstand (4th floor East) at 6 p.m. Please call (504) 948-1171 for Clubhouse dining reservations.
Admission and Dress Code: “Dress to Impress”
General admission for the Miller Beer Garden chalet and patio is $5. Clubhouse admission is $10. Standard dress code rules apply for the Clubhouse (collared shirts required; no shorts, windsuits or sandals permitted). There is no dress code for the Miller Beer Garden chalet and patio but Fair Grounds urges all Starlight Racing guests to “dress to impress.”
Presenting Partners and Future Starlight Racing
Starlight Racing is presented by Miller Lite, Where Y’At Magazine, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant, Messina’s Catering, Gentleman Jack Rare Tennessee Whiskey and Finlandia Vodka. The third and final Starlight Racing program of the season is set for March 19.
