Snow Delicious Tastes Victory Thursday at FG

NEW ORLEANS, La. (January 22, 2009) - Eddie Johnston and Joe Rink's Snow Delicious, far back early, rallied boldly and was up in the late stages to be best by three-quarters of a length in Thursday's $44,000 filly-and-mare allowance feature over Fair Grounds' Stall-Wilson turf course.

Ridden by John Jacinto and trained by Johnston, Snow Delicious paid $27.80, $12.20 and $6.60, toured the about one-mile distance over the firm course in 1:40.64 and increased her career earnings to $124,535 with her fifth career win in 11 lifetime starts.

Favored Altesse Imperiale, who pressed the pace and gained the advantage in mid-stretch, could not stay with the winner late but held the second spot by a half-length at the wire to return $3.20 and $3.40.  Fan Dame finished third, paying $6 to show.

Devil's Libation set early fractions of 25.78 and 50.87 before tiring from those efforts.

Racing resumes Friday at Fair Grounds with a 10-race program beginning at 12:30 p.m.
