Reservations Now Accepted; eBay Auction Begins Nov. 2
NEW ORLEANS, La (October 27, 2008) - Fair Grounds is now accepting reservations for clubhouse dining for the 2008-09 racing season, and the second annual online auction of seats to the most popular Thanksgiving dinner in New Orleans is less than a week away.
Reservations are being accepted for 86 of the 87 days of the racing season - every day except Thanksgiving - by calling (504) 943-2200 or 1-800-262-7983. Until racing season begins, the reservations line is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
"Because of the earlier start to our racing season (opening day is Nov. 14), we have decided to open the reservations process a week sooner," said Fair Grounds president Austin Miller. "The start of reservations and the upcoming eBay auction mean that we are moving even closer to the start of another highly anticipated season of racing."
The Thanksgiving auction will be conducted on eBay from Nov. 2-9 and will offer interested parties the chance to bid on tables of four or six in one of six different levels in the clubhouse's tiered dining room. To bid, go to ebay.com and search "Fair Grounds."
Beginning Nov. 3, Fair Grounds' website at fairgroundsracecourse.com will feature direct links to the auction pages. Please note, however, that the auction pages cannot be accessed prior to the start of the auction.
Fair Grounds will auction more than 100 tables in the clubhouse dining room for Thanksgiving Day.
A portion of the proceeds from this year's auction will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
Bid prices will include dinner, tax, gratuity, clubhouse admission and program for each guest at the table. Successful bidders will receive tickets, program vouchers and other information in advance of Thanksgiving.
In past years, reservations for Thanksgiving have sold out in less than an hour.
