Record Corporate Partners to Start 2011
Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots is starting 2011 with more corporate partners than at any time in the track’s 139-year history. Among them are national brands like Miller, Blue Moon and Diageo, as well as venerable New Orleans-based businesses such as Lamarque Ford and Hotel Monteleone.
Other companies working closely with Fair Grounds this season include Messina’s Catering and Daily Racing Form.
“The increased interest in Fair Grounds from corporate partners is a testament to the rising stature of our brand, as well as that of our parent company, Churchill Downs Incorporated,” said Fair Grounds President Tim Bryant. “Louisiana businesses recognize that live horseracing at Fair Grounds attracts a very desirable kind of customer who is both loyal and affluent.”
The emergence of Starlight Racing – the monthly upscale night racing experience – as a popular social event for young professionals and well-heeled partygoers has attracted several partners just for that five-night series. Among them are Miller, partners of the Miller Beer Garden; spirits partners Kettle One Vodka and Crown Royal Black; media sponsor Where Y’At Magazine; plus food partners Caribbean Spice and Zeke’s Restaurant.
Miller, in addition to its involvement with Starlight Racing, is a partner at all 10 Fair Grounds OTB Casino locations, where there are regular specials on Miller Lite, Miller High Life and Coors.
Fair Grounds sought to improve its relations with the business community prior to this season by creating a new position, Partnerships & Retail Manager. That job was filled by Leslie Monson, who has over 10 years of experience in marketing, partnerships and the gaming industry combined.
“Fair Grounds has a growing roster of partners that appreciate the demographic live horseracing delivers,” Monson said. “Some of the most highly respected brands, both locally and nationally, have partnered with us, which I think speaks well of our own reputation. We are excited to have several new corporate brands coming on board in 2011.”
