Louisiana Futurity Divisions Highlight New Year's Eve FG Program

NEW ORLEANS, La. (December 28, 2008) - The only Wednesday racing program of the 2008-2009 season at Fair Grounds occurs New Year's Eve, highlighted by both divisions of the Louisiana Futurity restricted to Louisiana-bred juveniles.

Both the colts and geldings division, to be run as the seventh race, and the filly division, to be run as the ninth race, have purses of $108,185.

Heiligbrodt Racing Stable's coupling of Deecity, who broke his maiden impressively in his career debut Nov. 27 at Fair Grounds, and Takin' the Bullet, who tallied by 3 1/2 lengths in his last start at Delta Downs Nov. 14, have been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorites in 46th running of the colts and geldings division.

In the 43rd running of the filly division, Richard Ringo's Morning Memory, who was an eight-length winner in her lone start at Louisiana Downs Sept 18, is the 5-2 morning line choice.

Both divisions are run at six furlongs.

Mark Casse trains Deecity, who will be ridden by John Jacinto, while James Hudson conditions Takin' the Bullet, who has Gerard Melancon listed in the irons.

Mike Burgess trains Morning Memory, who has Donnie Meche slated for the saddle.

First post on Wednesday, the first of six consecutive days of racing at Fair Grounds, is 12:30 p.m. CST.
