Little Polka Dot Wins Sunday

Maggi Moss’s Little Polka Dot, away alertly and quickly in command, made the pace and drew clear in the final furlong to post a length and a half victory in Sunday’s $51,000 allowance dash for older fillies and mares over Fair Grounds Stall-Wilson turf course.

Ridden by Jesse Campbell and trained by Tom Amoss, Little Polka Dot accomplished the about 5 1/2-furlongs over the grass rated firm in 104.66 after establishing early fractions of 22.17 and 46.81. The 5-year-old mare increased her career earnings to $155,245 with her fourth win in 13 career starts and returned mutuels of $8.20, $4.20 and $3.40.

Columbine Stable’s favored Five Star Fun prompted the pace of the winner throughout, could not catch that one but was easily second best, finishing 4 1 /2-lengths to the good of Dana Myers and Christina Lawton’s Merom.

Five Star Fun paid $4.20 and $3 and Merom returned $5.60 in the show position.

Racing resumes for Monday for the final Monday program of the 2010-2011 Fair Grounds season with a 10-race program that has a first race post time of 12:40 p.m.
