Later Start on Fridays Among FG March Post Time Changes

NEW ORLEANS, La. (February 13, 2009) - For the first time in nearly 20 years, Fair Grounds will offer a mid-afternoon first post time on Fridays, the track announced Friday.

Beginning March 13 and for the final three Fridays of Fair Grounds' 137th season, first post will be 2:50 p.m. CDT. Fair Grounds last offered a mid-afternoon start in the early 1990s.

"This change in Friday post time, which coincides with the start of Daylight Saving Time, will allow fans who work on Fridays to come out and catch at least half of our racing program, and still allow us to maintain a schedule where our last race runs around dusk," said Fair Grounds president Austin Miller.

The Friday post time shift is part of post time changes throughout March. Beginning on March 5, first post - with the exception of the aforementioned Fridays - will change to 12:35 p.m. Central time.
