Hallway Wins at Fair Grounds Thursday

NEW ORLEANS, La. (March 5, 2009) - Heiligbrodt Racing Stable's Hallway rallied boldly outside the leaders and drew clear late for a 1 3 /4-length victory in the $50,000 turf allowance feature for Louisiana-breds Thursday at Fair Grounds.

Hallway, ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan and conditioned by seven-time Fair Grounds leading trainer Steve Asmussen, was the favorite in a field of eight older horses and paid $6.20, $3.40 and $2.80. He toured the one-mile distance over the Stall-Wilson turf course in 1:39.57 over firm going, and increased his career earnings to $308,617 with his fourth win in 25 lifetime starts.

Nowandforevermore, never far back, continued willingly late to gain the place, returning $3.40 and $3.40, while outlasting pace setter Oro Tributo by a half-length.

Oro Tributo, who recorded early splits of 25.83 and 50.96 before weakening, paid $7.80 for the show.

Racing resumes Friday at Fair Grounds with a 10-race program beginning at 12:35 p.m.
