Groovy Luck Best on Grass in Sunday's FG Feature
NEW ORLEANS, La. (December 14, 2008) - Robert Asaro Enterprises' Groovy Luck made the pace and held on willingly to capture the featured $46,000 turf sprint allowance Sunday at Fair Grounds.
Ridden by Colby Hernandez and trained by Norman Miller III, Groovy Luck finished three-quarters of a length ahead of Cya Later Bert. It was another two lengths back to Terryhowieandjimmy in third.
Groovy Luck paid $6.20, $3.40, and $3, while Cya Later Bert returned $5.40 and $3.60 with Terryhowieandjimmy paying $5.60 to show.
Groovy covered the about five and a half furlongs over a "good" Stall-Wilson turf course in 1:04.94 after setting early splits of :22.37 and :46.85. The 5-year-old Groovy Jett gelding increased his career earnings to $185,390 with his eighth victory from 16 lifetime starts.
Fair Grounds is dark until Thursday, when the track shifts to a five-day-a-week schedule. First post for the 11-race card is 12:30 p.m. CST.
