Geniver Wins Sunday at Fair Grounds

Fast N Easy and R R Racing's Geniver held off late-running Sweet Lemonade by a neck in Sunday's $44,000 turf allowance feature for older fillies and mares at Fair Grounds.

Trained by Angel Montano and ridden by John Jacinto, Geniver paid $17.20, $6.20 and $3.40, covered about 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:04.56 and increased her career earnings to $269,764 with her eighth career win in 41 lifetime starts.

Sweet Lemonade was easily second best, returning $4.60 and $3.40, while finishing 2 1/4 lengths to the good of pacesetter Mystery Tune, who paid $4.80 to show after setting early fractions of 22.56 and 46.61.

Racing resumes Monday at Fair Grounds with a 10-race program beginning at 12:30 p.m.
