Evade Gets Up in Time to Win Monday Feature

After pressing the pace throughout Monday’s $28,000 Fair Grounds feature over a Stall-Wilson turf course rated good, Adele Dilschneider and Claiborne Farm’s Evade lunged in front a stride from the wire to win the about one mile grass test by a neck.

The winner, trained by Al Stall Jr. and ridden by Trey Agilar, paid $17.60, $9 and $6.20, toured the distance in 1:40.66 and increased his career earnings to $138,002 while winning for the third time in 15 lifetime starts.

Team Block’s Unpaid Crusade, although well rated throughout by Robby Albarado while making the pace with early splits of 24.84 and 49.30, began to tire in the final furlong and just failed to last. Unpaid Crusade returned $7.60 and $4.

Finishing third, a neck farther back, was Beta Capo, who paid $3 to show.

Racing resumes Friday at Fair Grounds with a nine-race program with a first post of 1 p.m.
