Diamond Tycoon Captures Thursday FG Feature

NEW ORLEANS, La (January 15, 2009) - Charlotte Musgrave's Diamond Tycoon rallied strongly in the late stages and took a 1 1/2-length victory in Thursday's $46,000 allowance feature at Fair Grounds.

The 5-year-old son of Johannesburg, trained by Andrew McKeever and ridden by James Graham, toured the about 1 1/16-mile distance over Fair Grounds' Stall-Wilson turf course in 1:46.24 and increased his career earnings to $94,059 with his third win in 12 career starts.

Diamond Tycoon returned $9, $5.20 and $3.80, while Sir Rabbit, who pressed the pace of 24.61 and 51.25, finished second, paying $10.60 and $6.20.   Pacesetter and favorite Evade was 2 1/4 lengths farther back, returning $2.60 for the show.

Racing resumes Friday at Fair Grounds with a 10-race program beginning at 12:30 p.m.
