Chloe Kate Wins Thursday Feature
Courtlandt Farm’s Chloe Kate, just behind the early leaders, launched a bid outside front-running Royal Alluvial, owned by Arapaho Royal, entering the lane, took command just after the furlong grounds and drew clear late for a length and half win in Thursday’s featured $49,000 allowance optional claiming test for 3-year-old fillies.
The winner, entered for main track only, was adopted as the even-money choice after the race was taken off the Stall-Wilson turf course and run at a mile and 70 yards over a fast track and toured the distance in 1:44.19. She paid $4, $2.80 and $2.20 and increased her career earnings to $63,478 with her second win in four lifetime starts.
Tracy Farmer’s Accept, never far back, rallied strongly in the late stages to gain the place by a head from Royal Alluvial, who weakened in the final furlong after setting early splits of 24.81 and 49.28.
Accept returned $3.20 and $2.40 while Royal Alluvial paid $3.40 for the show position.
Racing resume Friday at Fair Grounds for the second Starlight Racing program of the season, featuring a special late post time of 5 p.m. for the first race on the nine-race evening card.
