NEWS RELEASE: Starlight-Starbright, Fair Grounds' New Community Involvement Program

Starlight-Starbright, Let Us Help You Tonight

Starlight Racing presented by Miller Lite and Blue Moon returns Friday, January 17 at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, and this month’s event with a first post of 5 p.m. will mark the introduction of a new community involvement program, Starlight-Starbright.

As a longstanding member of the New Orleans community, Fair Grounds is continually reinvesting our goods and services via in-kind support, as well as monetarily through donations to area organizations.  Those efforts have led to over a thousand recipients receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars.  With that, Fair Grounds recognizes that the people and pride of New Orleans are the driving force of its resurgence and success, and that will only continue from the ongoing commitment to take care of our own.

In unison with what has become a favorite local past-time and social event, Starlight Racing, Fair Grounds will begin providing both non-profit and for-profit entities the ability to raise much needed funds for their own charitable organization or for one that their company supports in its efforts to touch the community.

“As a long-standing pillar of New Orleans and an organization known for community engagement, we are appreciative of the continued support Fair Grounds receives, in particular for the popularity of Starlight Racing,” said Fair Grounds Track President Tim Bryant.  “Therefore, the Starlight-Starbright Community Involvement Program will be a great platform for us to work with area non-profit and for-profit organizations, krewe’s, charities, and more to raise money in support of their beneficiaries.”

How it Works: Starlight Racing is scheduled approximately once per month and each event typically encompasses a variety of social experiences, such as a club-like scene in the Miller Time Beer Garden Tent on the Apron of the track and live entertainment in the clubhouse.  The Tent has musical entertainment via DVDJ, local area restaurant or food truck fare, jockette dancers, beverage specials and more. The clubhouse typically will play host to live entertainment by a local favorite dance band in the clubhouse.

Fund raising is possible via two primary methodologies: attendee admission rebate and direct program displays/intercepts while on property.

Admission Rebate: Following approval and registration with the Fair Grounds, organizations may pre-sell or direct their membership and supporters to purchase tickets to the designated Starlight through the Fair Grounds online ticketing system, www.fgno.com\tickets.  Based on surpassing the minimum of 25 attendees per date, the organization then receives 50% of the admission cost ($5.00 per person) back in a rebate.

Direct Program Display/Intercepts: Once qualified for the above, organizations may also set up a display to provide general information about their organization (501c3) or the designated beneficiary who will receive the funds (for-profit election).  Donation requests may be included at the display location only.

How to Register: Companies may register as an official Starlight-Starbright beneficiary by downloading the official information and registration form from www.fairgroundsracecourse.comand emailing it to lindsay.boihem@fgno.com or mark.conner@fgno.com.  Additional information, including clubhouse reservations during fund raising is available at calling the property reservations line at (504)943-2200.

Starlight Racing’s January 17 date will feature a performance from Groovy 7 in the clubhouse and DJ Digital  in the Miller Time Beer Garden.
