Starlight Racing Returns December 20 With Holiday Discounts

STARLIGHT RACING RETURNS DECEMBER 20 WITH HOLIDAY SPECIAL - 50% OFF MILLER TIME BEER GARDEN ADMISSION FOR ALL TEACHERS, COLLEGE STUDENTS/EMPLOYEES, MILITARY AND FIRST RESPONDERS

Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots popular Starlight Racing Series, presented by Miller Lite and Blue Moon, returns Friday, December 20 for the second of five special Starlight Racing events throughout the 142nd thoroughbred racing season. First post is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Admission discounts for the Miller Time Beer Garden will be offered at this Starlight event for all teachers, college students and employees, as well as members of the military and first responders. Valid identification must be presented to receive the 50% discount.  Access to the Miller Time Beer Garden, which will be transformed into a cozy, lounge setting for this Starlight Racing event, will again be coupled with clubhouse entry for just $10.  Grandstand general admission will remain at $5. Racing fans must be 21 years old to enter the Miller Time Beer Garden.

Full-time students enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning are eligible to win one of four $1,000 scholarships to be given away during Friday’s Starlight Racing. Sign-up will be held at the West entrance, and students must show their college ID and driver’s license to enter. Drawings will be held after each of the final four races of the night. Scholarships are sponsored in part by the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Local performers, The Bucktown All-Stars will perform in the clubhouse beginning at 7p. Libations from Absolut and Jameson, the Official Starlight Spirits Partners, will also be served throughout the facility.  Additionally, members of popular Uptown restaurant, Hoshun, as well as local pop-up, Woody’s Fish Taco’s, will be present with their well-known fare on the track Apron.

Racing fans are also encouraged to visit the new Star Guitar Bar located on the west end of the paddock. Friday will mark the official Grand Opening of the bar, redecorated in honor of the richest Louisiana-bred racehorse of all time.
