GREAT MILLS WIRES FAIR GROUNDS FEATURE SUNDAY

Millennium Farms’Great Mills made the pace in Sunday’s $53,000 allowance grass dash at about 5 ½ furlongs over a Fair Grounds’ Stall-Wilson turf course rated good and drew off late for a two-length tally under David Flores.

Conditioned by Fair Grounds 13-time championSteve Asmussen, Great Mills cut out early fractions of 22.27 and 46.21, came home in 1:05.01 and paid $6, $4 and $3.20 while increasing his career earnings to $468,238 with seven wins from 23 lifetime starts.

Dennis Narfinger’s Artest rallied to be the runner-up, returning $7.60 and $4.40 while finishing a half-length in front of Jones-Lyster Partnership’s Hamiltonian, who paid $6.40 to show.

Racing resumes Thursday at Fair Grounds with a nine-race program beginning at 1 p.m.
