At the Pulpit Wins Wednesday Turf Feature

NEW ORLEANS (Wednesday, March 6, 2013) – Chicago 8’s At the Pulpit prompted the pace, took command entering the lane and then held on to withstand a late bid by Dixiana Farms’ Madris by a nose at the wire in Wednesday’s featured $47,000 allowance for older turf horses.
Trained by Michelle Lovell and ridden by Richard Eramia, the Pulpit gelding returned mutuels of $8, $4.40 and $2.80. toured the about one-mile distance over a Stall-Wilson Turf Course rated good in 1:41.32 and increased his earnings to $97,688 with his second win in 14 lifetime starts.
Madris, unhurried early, found best stride late to pay $24.60 and $7.60 while clearly second best, finishing 2 1/4-lengths in front of Danny Peitz and Tom McCrocklin’s Aqtaar,who returned $3 to show.
Steve Stumpf’s Calipari’s Kitten set early fractions of 25.42 and 50.82 before weakening to fourth at the finish.
Racing resumes Thursday at Fair Grounds with a 10-race program beginning at 1 p.m.
