"Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" Auditions Coming to Fair Grounds July 27
By Jim Mulvihill, Communications & Pari-Mutuel Marketing Manager
“Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” is hitting the road this summer to hold contestant auditions for the upcoming eleventh season of the show and has selected New Orleans as one of six cities that they will visit!
“Millionaire,” with Emmy Award-winning host Meredith Vieira, will premiere an all-new season on September 3, 2012 and can be seen locally on FOX 8 (WVUE), weekdays at 9:30am. Beginning September 3, FOX 8 will add a repeat episode from a previous season of “Millionaire” to their lineup at 10:30am.
This July, people in the New Orleans area will have the opportunity to audition for the hit game show as FOX 8 welcomes “Millionaire” producers to Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots (1751 Gentilly Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70119) for contestant auditions on Friday, July 27, 2012.
Auditions consist of a timed multiple choice test and, for those people who pass, an interview with one of the show’s producers. Two audition sessions will be held. The first session will start at 7:00am, with tests being given through 10:00am. Call-back interviews for the morning auditions will take place between 12:00–3:00pm. The second session will begin at 5:00pm and will continue through 7:00pm. Call-back interviews for evening auditions will take place immediately after each test session. The last session of the day will begin promptly at 7:00pm and will test contestants exclusively for “Movie Week,” a specialty series featuring film buffs answering movie-themed trivia. Producers will also audition college students throughout the day to be considered for “College Week.” Auditioners will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis and producers will audition as many people as they can throughout the day.
New Orleans, LA was one of six cities selected for “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” auditions. Producers will also visit Chicago, IL (July 9), Toledo, OH (July 11) and Norfolk, VA (July 13) as well as Houston, TX (July 23) and Las Vegas, NV (July 25).
In order to audition in New Orleans, participants must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. resident and pass all other eligibility rules, which can be found on “Millionaire’s” website at http://www.millionairetv.com. Auditioners must bring photo identification with them as proof of age and residency.
