HEZA LOUISIANA DASH TOPS LQHBA SALES FUTURITY TRIALS

Exotic Animals Return Saturday, Aug. 16, 4 pm post-time

T M Ranch's Heza Louisiana Dash finished at the top of the class in trials for the September 5 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Sales Futurity on Friday at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

Trained by Kenny Roberts, Heza Louisiana Dash stopped the clock in 17.331 seconds in the ninth of ten trials, taking the top spot away from Mykelia Carter and Roderick L. Carter's Louisiana Jambalaya, trained by Justin Dehart, who had held the top spot until that point with his time of 17.387 seconds in the second trial of the day.

The competition didn't end with the last of the ten trials, as Hallowed, trained by Jorge Lopez, crossed the wire third in the finale with a time of 17.600 seconds, earning him a tie with the Bobby Martinez charge Coonascorona, who competed the 350 yard trip in the exact same time, for the last of ten spots in the LQHBA Sales Futurity.

After the races, a shake was conducted by racing secretary Jason Boulet to determine which of those two runners would qualify, and Coonascorona's name was drawn as the winner. Hallowed, by virtue of losing that shake, will be the first qualifier for the $30,000 LQHBA Sales Invitational which serves as a consolation for the 11th through 20th finishers in Friday's trials.

The ten qualifiers for the September 5 LQHBA Sales Futurity are:

1. Heza Louisiana Dash (Trainer: Kenny Roberts) – 17.331
2. Louisiana Jambalaya (Trainer: Justin Dehart) – 17.387
3. Rbd Fastestdashndeb (Trainer: William McIntosh) – 17.444
4. Hang On and Hush Up (Trainer: Vann Haywood) – 17.460
