Analysis:

Race 8:

#1 AMIRA’S PRINCE is the defending champion that will be making his second start after a layoff of almost a year.  Won four consecutive starts before the layoff.  Finished third in the Grade I Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap in his return start and should improve in his second start after the layoff.

Race 9:

ALL

Race 10:

#5 NORMANDY INVASION makes his second start of the year.  Finished runner-up in the Wood Memorial at was 4th in the Kentucky Derby.  Won easily by over seven lengths in his return start last time at Gulfstream.  #8 PALACE MALICE will be making his second start after a layoff.  Last year’s Belmont Stakes champion raced well throughout the rest of his 3-year-old campaign including a victory in the Grade II Jim Dandy at Saratoga and 6th in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.  Won his return start last time in the Grade II Gulfstream Park Handicap.  Mike Smith will be the rider who was aboard him in his Belmont Stakes victory.

Race 11:

#3 LOUIES FLOWER makes his second start after a layoff.  Won three consecutive starts as a 2-year-old including the $250K Springboard Mile at Remington.  Finished 12th in the Grade III Southwest at Oaklawn, but may have needed that race to return to form and since then has fired a bullet workout at Oaklawn on March 7.  #6 VICAR’S IN TROUBLE was dominant in the Grade III Lecomte and finished third in the Grade II Risen Star last time as the favorite.  Had to go a little wide around the course and should improve with a better trip if can go the distance.  #9 IN TROUBLE makes his fourth career start.  Won a Grade II stakes at Belmont last September.  Made his first start since then in the Grade III Gotham at Aqueduct and finished third in that start and should improve off of that effort here.
