Text me for updates today

I hope to be up in the press box in a few hours for a full day of live blogging. Word on the street, though, is that high-speed Internet access has been spotty up there and I might be out of luck (sorry, but I am not spending my day blogging with a dial-up connection).

So I hope to be posting here throughout the day, but if you don't see any more updates that's why. If you can't be here in person and you're really interested in knowing more about what's happening, just text or call me at 713-249-2261 and I will personally describe to you what's going on around me, or send you a picture if your phone will acccept them. Seriously, why the heck not? I'll just be standing around the paddock checking out the horses, drinking a cold draft beer, running around looking for the shortest lines to bet (hint: paying for clubhouse acccess is always worth the few extra bucks on big days because the top floor has the shortest lines in the plant). I've already done my handicapping because of the tip sheet, so all I have to do is see the glorious Thoroughbreds in the flesh and devise my betting strategies because I already know for the most part who I like. I also have to devise my eating strategies, especially if the sausage dude they had over by the gift shop on Preview Day is back.
