Brisnet Trainer Stats
Among the many valuable tools found in the Brisnet Ultimate Past Performances are the trainers' statistics. Incorporating these stats in handicapping can often lead to lucrative payoffs and a few examples are seen on Thursday at Arlington and Calder.
Arlington Race 1. With four wins from 17 starts Rick Slomkowski is having a solid Arlington meet and here he will saddle #6 OAK FOREST who is 9/2 on the morning line. A winner of five lifetime starts, Oak Forest will be making his second start off a brief layoff in which situation Slomkowski has been winning at a rate of 41 percent with a positive ROI. The seven-year-old gelding fits well in this race being a close third on Prime Power and top on the Current Class category in the Ultimate Race Summary.
Arlington Race 5. Tom Proctor owns high percentages in many trainer statistic categories but his highest is perhaps with runners that will make their first start for his barn at which he wins at a 28 percent rate. In this mile and a sixteenth maiden on the turf he will send out #8 MORIGAMI who he recently received from South Florida. Morigami, who is out of a stakes winner and a half sister to three winners on the turf, showed promise at Calder but may improve for her new handler and is 6/1 on the morning line.
Arlington Race 9. Among the biggest talents of one of this meet's leading trainers, Chris Block, is saddling turf winners and #6 DASHEL will make his first start on the grass in this five and a half furlong dash. While Block's runners win at a solid 18 percent overall on the turf, when they make their first start on that surface his win rate is a high 25 percent with a positive ROI. While Dashel is ranked second on Prime Power, she may offer value being a juicy 10/1 on the morning line.
Calder Race 1. William Kaplan regularly wins at about 11 percent but does better with runners going a route of ground. Indeed, Kaplan's starters, such as #7 DOGE'S GOLD, that are making their first start at a route win at 19 percent with a positive ROI. While Doge's Gold has been outrun in two sprint maidens he is liable to improve on the stretch out since both his sire and damsire's runners have an average winning distance (AWD) of 7.3 furlongs. With the hot apprentice Luis Saez aboard, Doge's Gold, who is 12/1 on the morning line, may be worth a shot at big odds.
